Deadly Pittsburg collision beneath investigation – East Bay Instances

PITTSBURG — A person died and another suffered life-threatening injuries after a traffic collision that closed a roadway for several hours Tuesday, authorities said.

Police said officers responded at 9:20 a.m. to reports of the collision at Railroad Avenue and Buchanan Road and arrived to find two vehicles in the intersection.

The driver of one vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. He was identified by authorities early Wednesday as 32-year-old Ricky Manley, of Porterville.

The driver of the other vehicle suffered minor injuries, but a passenger sustained a life-threatening injury. That person remained in critical but stable condition at a hospital Wednesday morning.

Investigators now believe the driver and passenger were driving north on Railroad when their vehicle struck the solo driver’s vehicle eastbound on Buchanan.

No assessment was available on whether impairment or substances were involved.
