Loper males, ladies sweep Pittsburg State – Kearney Hub
UNK's bench scored 43 points, 22 rebounds, four assists, three blocks and two steals. Backes had 20 points, 11 boards, three blocks, and three templates. She combined her career best efforts with rebounds and was one point behind her career best offensive performance.
Law provided a good defense for Pitt star Kaylee DaMitz while racking up 10 points, and Shiloh McCool scored 10 points and seven rebounds.
Pitt received 18 points and five rebounds from start guard Tristan Gegg with DaMitz at 12 points.
UNK travels to Missouri Southern State on Saturday (4-7).
Walker scores 30 points while UNK men claim their third win in their last four games
Jake Walker, Senior Guard at the University of Nebraska at Kearney, reached a career height of 30 points, and the Lopers sank the season's top three three-point points on Thursday night in Pittsburg to beat the State of Pittsburg (85-75) .
The Lopers (5-7) won for the third time in four games and avenged the bigger and bigger Gorillas (5-7) a loss at a MIAA tournament in 2020.
Senior striker Austin Luger was working on a sprained ankle to play with other Loper posts nearly every 40 minutes taking care of nasty issues. UNK finished a rebound edge of 2-3 and plus 10 and finished 12 of 25 behind the arch. Pitt countered with a zone of his own that the Lopers eventually cut up.
