Just before 1:30 a.m., police were patrolling the area around Harbor Street and Garcia Avenue when they heard “several gunshots,” authorities said.

One person was killed and another was seriously injured after a shooting in Pittsburg early Sunday morning, authorities said.

Just before 1:30 a.m., police were patrolling the area around Harbor Street and Garcia Avenue when they heard “several gunshots,” authorities said. They responded to the 500 block of Garcia Avenue, where they saw a large gathering of about 100 people, with several people and vehicles fleeing the area.

One person was found with several gunshot wounds to the upper torso. They were pronounced dead at the scene. Another person was hospitalized in critical, but stable, condition, authorities said.

The names of the dead and injured person have not been released. The killing marks Pittburg’s first homicide of 2021.
