Social media: What readers are saying – Opinion – Pittsburg Morning Solar
Here is a sampling of social media comments about stories from across the state:
The Hutchinson News Facebook: Kansas sees highest average daily number of COVID-19 cases in a week
Sara Crow: Dude, folks, cases have gone up because people are GOING OUT more. More events, more people associating, schools are opening. It ain’t rocket surgery. Cases would be WAY WORSE without the precautions some people are taking.
Cindy Weigel Cook: And wearing a mask doesn’t prevent you from getting COVID-19…it protects other from getting it from you!
Cris Johnson Kauffman: Of course….more testing is being done
Jennifer Voth: Wear your mask, wash your hands, social distance and limit gatherings of people to 10. Stay at home if you are sick. We can get through this pandemic by taking these simple steps to stop the spread. Not enough people in Hutchinson are wearing masks. The New York Times reported that Hutchinson Kansas was number 5 in the country of increasing COVID cases. COVID is preventable. We can stop the spread.
Johnson Brian Keith (Jennifer Voth): our numbers went up since the masks are introduced. Our numbers were not this bad before the mask. You’re just part of the fear
Seth Tomfoolery Farley (Jennifer Voth): for real. I was just visiting town. The amount of people not wearing masks was sickening.
Suzy Tolbert Hill: People in Hutch aren’t wearing them
Kathy McGillivray (Suzy Tolbert Hill): most people I see are masking and social distancing
Salina Journal Facebook: Bollier shatters own fundraising record, pulls in $13.5M in third quarter
David Fox: Money could have helped a lot of people its very sad to condemn someone when you basically do the same.
Jeff Geist: 90% from out of state.
Carrie Zodrow: Let’s show the Dem’s they can pour their money into Kansas but we are not buying it
Steve Stolzenburg: need to give that money to the ones that really need it
Roger Barrett: Wasted money
Frank Shelton (Roger Barrett): pretty much the way I feel about the whole system!
Pittsburg Morning Sun Facebook: County health officials consider policy changes as area hospitals reach capacity
Cindy Anne Fehrenbach Riachi: Stop accepting patients from Cherokee and Bourbon County until the county leaders get their shit together. Crawford County can shut down and border the county if they want to. I do not believe it is illegal if the commission gives them approval. That will force those wayward counties to get their act together.
Steve Mason: Step back, just because I don’t live in Crawford county doesn’t mean I don’t spend a lot of money there, as so a lot of other people. Also consider you do have positive cases and at one time was moving exponentially in the wrong direction. wasn’t that big of a deal back then, huh?
Kristi Lavery: More fear porn from fake news. President Trump was cured in 3 or 4 days and these fake politicians and so called doctors are causing harm to people who need Healthcare.
Melinda Jo Cuthbertson: Dang it! People stop making this political! Covid dont care if you are a Trumper or a Dem…its here and you people who refuse to believe science and Drs are the reason it’s getting worse. Wear your mask when in a public place and wash your hands. Simple
Topeka Capital-Journal Facebook: Should Kansas city opt out of mask order by counties? The two disagree.
Dion Walrod: If people opt out im gonna tell them to stay away from me , wear your damm mask stop being Karens and Kens
Jerri Childs: Good it should be left up to the individual. I still want my freedom of choice.
Mary Inman: If we are going to to see an end to the pandemic then we must, as one group and united, cooperate long enough to put the drive to and end. Arguing over individual rights only prolongs the misery and suffering.
Tim Watts (Mary Inman): 15 days was months ago. Time to protect the vulnerable and get back to normal life. Not the new normal, the old normal.
